Hi HB, I have used PSP through many versions, LOL. There are hundreds of
tutorials for all versions, here is one site to get you
started.

This site has so many tutorial links you should be able to find one for your
version, although many tuts will work in more than one
version.
Also check this link:
http://www.pspug.org/tut/tutbasic.shtml there are lots of tutorials for
beginners and if you scroll about half way down there is a
tut for "text on graphics".
Here's a very mini-tut for you:
To add text to an image, create a new layer. Then choose your background and
foreground colors, click your text tool and type your
message. Merge (flatten all) and you should be all done. There are many, many
ways to do things in PSP...my favorite graphics
program.
