-=PCTechTalk=- Re: -=PCTechTalk= HP print server

Hi GMan,
Your idea does make sense! It's just that my computer is the most likely
candidate for that application but it's not on all the time. But if you think
that's the best way to accomplish what I want without the aggravation, that's
what I'll do. This I know how to do.

After time if this doesn't satisfy my family, I'll be back for more.

Do you know anybody that wants to buy a used HP jetdirect 175x?

Now back to lurking.

Thank you,

Matt M

  Matt,
First of all, It's great to hear from you. I'm always glad to hear that
a 'lurker' has been learning from the group. As for your printer issue,
I'll first suggest a different approach and you can let us know if it's
something you want to try. If not, we'll attack the connection issues with
  the print server.

Instead of connecting the printer to a dedicated print server, have you
considered connecting it to the main system on the network and then sharing
it from there? As long as that computer is turned on, everyone will be able
to use it. The only two limitations of this approach would be that the main
system needs to be running and the printer would be physically wired to that
computer. There would be no need for the print server. If this sounds like
something that would work for your situation, let me know and I'll provide
the details. If not, we'll try to get the print server to work instead.
  :O)

  Peace,
  GMan
