-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Outlook Express Opening Slowly...Again!

First off... everything I just read now is saying that removing or disabling
MSN can cause OE to open slowly... so I would double check that route there.
Here's links to that info I found:

and this

and very good info here too...

While you're at it, this one has a good tidbit as well:

And... now for my own input... have you ran all the appropriate adware and
spyware apps? If not, get to work... download, install and run (if you
haven't done so already). Make sure they're up-to-date every time you run
it. My recommendations, as probably everyone else's is, if you don't already
have these, is:

Ad-Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot
http://www.safer-networking.org

SpywareBlaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

And, now the new Microsoft AntiSpyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

or use this link:

Cover all the spyware angles, just in case.

Ok.. I've spoke too much! Hope some of this helps.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Outlook Express Opening Slowly...Again!

I'm having all sorts of issues recently...but at least they're not too
serious. The past couple of days (maybe a week) outlook express has been
opening extremely slowly (as if looking for something). This happened once
before and it was looking for Messenger (which I disabled). So, I tried a
tip from Kim Komando to rename the messenger folder and OE started opening
normally. I noticed this behavior after I download a newer version of MSN
messenger and wondered if there was possibly a registry key that was written
during installation that had to do with opening OE?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. This is on a Win XP O/S.
