I should have been more clear on that. In addition to the lost messages
files you mention, there are dbx files in the store that apparently do not
relate to message folders:
Pop3uidl.dbx
Offline.dbx
Offline is a default file created by Outlook Express but I have no idea why.
Pop3uidl is not a default message file. I suspect it has some sort of data
used by the POP3 process and is created when you create a POP3 account.
Also, every folder you ever created and then later deleted leaves its dbx
file in the store until you manually delete it and it moves to the recycle
bin.
To regain the messages in any message dbx file, simply create a folder in
Outlook Express with the exact same name. OE will use it instead of
creating a new folder.
