-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Outlook Express Error Message

Whatever you are doing, I hope you made a backup copy of ALL the files in
your message store. If you have not already done so, go to your email
message store folder and delete the "deleted items.dbx" file. Also delete
from the store folder any other .dbx file for any folder you *know* to be
empty or you *want* to be empty, or does not exist in your current mail
folder list. **Do not delete the "folders.dbx" file**.

Caution: Hardheaded opinion follows

Incredimail is not a good choice to replace Outlook Express. The way it
inserts all those smilie faces and animated emoticons allows the Incredimail
mother ship to track every single email address that receives an email from
you and verify it is a valid email address. Verified addresses are a
spammers delight.

It does that using the same technology that Yahoo uses in its "beacons".
And, from what other users have told me, Incredimail does NOT allow you to
send in plain text, nor does it allow you to eliminate the stuff it attaches
to your mail.

I normally block email from Incredimail users and from those that use Smiley
Central and similar stuff in order to protect myself from the mother ship.
Fortunately, the plain text only format of this group eliminates the
Incredimail "goodies". Unfortunately, it also screws up the formatting of
the message body (see your quoted text below).

Yes, I know OE allows me to block external data to prevent the intrusion but
that is universal and not on a per sender basis. There is other external
data that I *do* want from some senders so that is not an option.

Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora and many other email clients are much better.

-----End of hardheaded opinion-----
