My apologies to Don and GMan for the delay in responding to your tips on
rectifying my problems with OE.  I have downloaded Incredimail and have b=
een
trying to get used to that over the past week or so when I have actually =
had
a chance to get near the computer.  I did compact my files on an
intermittent basis and did it again when the email arrived.  It took less
that 50 seconds to compact all folders and the problems of being unable t=
o
open OE address book or certain folders or have the ability to delete
mail(again with no recognizable pattern that I could spot) still persist.=

When I was able to open the files I would import them into Incredimail an=
d I
found some other folders in  the recycle bin so have been restore them to=
 OE
or import them to the new program.  I will be away again for a few days b=
ut
wanted to get off this notice of my progress and will probably be seeking
assistance again when I get back.  In the meantime thank you again for yo=

    If this is still a problem, it is usually an indication that the fold=
ers=0D
inside OE are in desparate need of compaction (the removal of all of the=0D
empty space left over when you delete a lot of messages over time).=0D

    While in OE, click directly on 'Local Folders' near the top of the le=
ft=0D
pane (Folders view pane) so that none of the actual folders are selected.=
=0D
Then, go to File > Folder and click on "Compact All Folders" and then=0D
immediately go make yourself a sandwich (it could take a while to complet=
e).=0D
If it errors out on you, close and then reopen OE and try it again.  It m=
ay=0D
take several tries before it completes, so don't give up until it's done.=
=0D
Once it's completed compacting all of them without an error, close OE and=
=0D
reboot the PC just for good measure.  It should work fine afterwards.=0D
