-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Only hurts for a little while...

Sammi,
I've been working on three different systems today and two of them
really kicked back, so sorry for the delay in replying. This reply will be
to the last three posts you've made to save my fingers a little. lol

You have nothing at all to be sorry about. In fact, I'm wondering if I
should apologize to YOU for putting you through so much troubleshooting.
Sometimes today's technology does get the best of us with quirky issues like
this one. I had a feeling that the extra stuff wouldn't help, but it's
usually worth the effort to at least try if you have the time & patience.
Using Acronis will neither hurt nor help the situation, but it may prove to
be a waste of your time if the operating system needs to be redone. That
really depends on whether you have a Restore disk set or a retail version of
the Windows install disk. Some Restore sets will wipe ALL of the
partitions, delete them and then recreate them from scratch. A retail disk
will never do that without you explicitly commanding it to do so. So, if
you don't have a Recovery set, go ahead and see what kind of trouble you can
create with it.          ;0}

Software issues tend to jump up in full swing from the moment they
occur. Gradually developing problems are usually an indication that it's
something mechanical (hardware). I'm still looking forward to hearing what
else seems to work in Safe Mode, but I'm not holding out much hope that it
will suddenly point to a specific problem that can be easily fixed. Still,
it will be great info to pass onto the support techs.

I use Driver Genius Pro myself and I really like the program. If you
feel ambitious, go ahead and install it to see what it can do for you. Who
knows. It may point out a driver that's in need of updating that will turn
this problem off. lol

Finally, hold off on your RAM purchase until this is resolved. For all
you know, you could conceivably end up with a different system if they are
unable to figure out the problem (it's doubtful that it would be a
significantly different model, but you just never know).

Peace,
G
