Hi Don,
I have been using a Sony Bravia 1080p
as a monitor/TV for the last year and love it.
I bought the LG Super Multi Blue Blue Ray/HD DVD/DVD burner
Blue Ray player
<http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26553&vpn=GGC%2DH20L&manufacture
=LG%20Electronics>
for this computer last spring when I had it assembled at NCIX.com
Only $50 more for them to assemble/build/install the OS
(Vista home premium) and test it for a week.
The system also plugs into my HDTV Sony Bravia 46" LCD 120hz
I like the Bravia as it has 3 sets of HDMI/Composite/Video inputs as well
as
the computer VGA on the back.
I'm thinking of getting a 40" Bravia for the bedroom to use on my laptop
there.

I think so too. I'll try it probably Sun or Mon. It sure would be
nice if I could slipstream or at least use vLite to "fix" the Vista
Home Premium Express Upgrade I got for free with my laptop. A look at
the directory structure though suggests it is not possible.
I got one of my new toys today.... a Samsung SyncMaster 23 inch 1080p
LCD HDTV. Right now I have my laptop hooked up to it and even using
an analog VGA cable it is STUNNING. My desktop has an old GeForce
FX52000 that does not (apparently) support a 16:9 resolution so I
didn't even bother hooking it up. My new desktop should be here
Tuesday or Wednesday and it will get the new monitor. Then I'll
REALLY get to enjoy computing again. :-))
The regular price for the new toy is $349 at Office Depot. That is an
incredible value becuase 1080p is more expensive than 720p and so far
it is the _only_ TV smaller than a 40" that I have seen that has it.
Everything else is 720p. I'll watch a lot movies on this baby! Has
anybody used an upconvert DVD player? What do you think of the
results? With all these expensive new toys, I can't have a BlueRay
player for quite a while.
I gonna have to re-examine my priorities and spend more time exploring
my computers. I'm seeing to many "fun" things to do to miss out.
BTW 23 inches is a HUGE screen. I had contemplated a 26" and am now
glad I got the 23.
