Found the problem--it was a setting in ZoneAlarm..for some reason OE now 
needs to be set different than without SP2..access to the internet wasn't 
allowed for OE before and it still went thru. I changed that setting and OE 
can send and receive..weird....but it works again..Now as long as everything 
ELSE is in good order.........

If your ISP has generously given you some "self-healing" software( to help
you diagnose any problem that might occur with your connection) then remove
it and SP2 will install properly with few, if any problems.
This is what prevented me accessing any portion of the net when I downloaded
it from MS.
I removed this self-diagnosing trash and all worked as it should.
