If your ISP has generously given you some "self-healing" software( to help 
you diagnose any problem that might occur with your connection) then remove 
it and SP2 will install properly with few, if any problems.
This is what prevented me accessing any portion of the net when I downloaded 
it from MS.
I removed this self-diagnosing trash and all worked as it should.
