Virii are not the only thing that plagues Outlook and Outlook Express. The
addressbook is very vulnerable and that vulnerability alone passes a
majority of trojans and worms around and around indefinitely. Up until
very recently, you could not read mail in anything but HTML. Again, very
vulnerable to worms and trojans, if not virii. If you think that OE is
secure with only virus protection, then you need to do some research,
because a lot of trojan/malware victims would beg to differ. While the
mailing lists were plagued with a variety of trojans and worms that came
imbedded in the HTML and sent themselves to every OE addressbook they could
find, they were stripped here automatically and couldn't get into *this*
addressbook even if they hadn't been stripped.

I know you think OE is great and I'm happy for you. Let's not make it
something it is not, though. It's hasn't got the best filters and it is
very far from the most secure email out there.

          | Well written Wyatt. I'd add the fact that OE & O are prone
          | to virus
          | attack simply because they are in such wide use. Programs
          | like
          | TheBat and Poco run on their own code engines and therefore
          | are not
          | nearly as vulnerable to viruses. Everyone chooses what
          | suits their
          | own tastes......but my Seal of Approval goes to Poco &
          | TheBat.

          | =A4
          | =A4 OE filters can be made to work, but they don't work well

          | =A4 handle the types of tasks I wish to do. There are other
          | things,

          | its
          | =A4 filters. I can filter a message down to a single word
if
          | I want
          | =A4 and will only get messages with *that exact word* *in
the
          | exact
          | =A4 place I queried it* and no other matches. That's mail
          | handling. If
          | =A4 you can do that in OE without a lot of effort, then show
          | me how.

          | =A4 OE is a fine program for most people. Some want more or
a
          | =A4 different way of handling things. To say OE will do
          | anything that
          | =A4 the others do is not quite correct. To say it will work
          | in most
          | =A4 cases and work fine is not to be argued. I can agree to
