-=PCTechTalk=- Re: No drives detected

First off... you said you put the HD into another computer and it spins up but
won't boot to it. Likewise with the boot drive of that other computer into the
questionable one. Well... unless those two computers have the same hardware
specs, putting a working boot drive into another computer will not necessarily
boot. That install of Windows has some configuration settings based on the
hardware, including the motherboard. So... it might work, it might not. But,
not booting if its not the original boot drive native to that system doesn't
necessarily mean bad drive.
Not sure if you already did this... but, make sure you only have one HD
connected, one floppy, one stick of RAM and no optical drives connected. You
want to break down the problem. This assuming its not just a reseating problem,
as Gman suggested.

And, with the RAM, if you have more than one stick, only use one stick. Then
switch and use the other stick. And swap the slots you have them inserted into.

Keep in mind that any one of your hardware items could have given on you,
considering how fragile the inside of your tower is. Static off your person is
an extreme silent danger.
