It's recommended to install Win98 before XP, and to install XP on a different 
partition.  The boot managing is done for you. Or, you could install XP, then 
use something like Virtual PC to install Win98 within XP.

I don't think full version of AdAware is necessary if you are using a few tools 
to protect yourself (which you seem to be doing from your list of software)

Mozilla/Firefox have their own popup blocking, no need for Google.

I like Mailwasher for spam software - you decide what gets downloaded into your 
email program.
