-=PCTechTalk=- Re: NTFS to FAT 32?

  Hi Jim,
Yes, I do want to reformat the boot (c) drive so that I can install win2k as
fat 32. I have very little experience with NTFS, but what I do remember is
that you are unable to reformat an NTFS drive unless you have the NTFS disks.
Is this true or can I just use any EBD? Thanks!

Either way, you end up having to re-format the drive... If your talking
about doing this on your boot drive then you have to re-format and
re-install from scratch, if you were trying to convert from fat32 to
NTFS a program comes with windows to do that... as far as I know there
are no programs / utilities to go the other way on the boot drive, if
your talking about a drive other than the boot drive it's not a problem,
either move all the files off that drive and re-format to fat32 and move
the files back or use partition magic to change the format with the
  files still on the drive.

Remember each format type has specific limitations, thus some formats on
certain drive sizes / locations may not be permissible.

reformat. I tried reinstalling Windows 2000, but it automatically went to
NTFS. FAT wasn't even a choice. Thank you and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
