Yep I sure was, Master, I held the call W5NOM until I finally became so
deep in commercial radio and tv broadcasting that hamming was no longer fun.
I was a SSB pioneer however, and made the first coast to coast contact on
the old 5 meter band.
I don't remember who said it, but the quote goes: "Turning an avocation
into a vocation is like marrying a mistress, it ruins a great relationship".

Sorry, I apologize for offending anyone, I really wasn't thinking about
anyone on this forum. I am often disgusted by the insistence of some
webmasters on commercial sites that bells and whistles and pretty patterns
are more important than delivering the content to the most customers.
They fall into the MS trap of building a site with a MS writer that can be
viewed best by a MS browser. Isn't this a part of the familiar MS game plan?

I am familiar with where this style originated, most current TV commercials
are sound and flashing images that distract the viewer and leave him
wondering what it was they were advertising,<G> if he even thinks of it
at all.
I had to change ISPs twice in this little burg as they went bankrupt and
sold out. They think MS drove them to the wall with technical problems
because they insisted on giving out NS disks as a browser. How can a small
town isp fight a multi billion dollar org with pro super hackers? Most people
have no idea of the extensive roots of MS. Talk about Mafia. I think the
prosecutors have a cause, they just aren't able to get all the dots legally
connected in court.
Don't take this as a conspiracy theory, it doesn't take a conspiracy when
you have billions of bucks. regards, Jack F
