-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Moving your Swapfile

Don,
When you've finished the instructions, the original Swapfile (the one on
your C: drive showing as 768 - 1536) should be gone (i.e. showing no sizes
in the C:\ boxes), but the new location partition should be showing those
(or other) sizes instead. In other words, all partitions other than the one
you moved it to will be showing blanks. Using the description you provided
in your post, you'll first instruct a different partition (for example, D:\)
to create a Swapfile and then remove the one on your C:\ drive. Once you
reboot, the D:\ partition will be the only one with a size range showing.
Of course, you also have the option of modifying the original size range or
even giving the Min and Max values the same exact size, as I explained in
the tutorial. :O)

While it's possible to invite Windows to use more than one Swapfile
(only one per partition, of course), Windows will see them as a single
severely fragmented entity and just end up thrashing through all of your
partitions/drives in search of whatever it needs from the file at any given
moment. As a result, Windows response time will diminish dramatically and
it may even result in some system instability.

Peace,
GMan
