hey Rocky... when you go to display properties > settings > advanced, what
does it show for an adapter? if you can't find anything there, go to
hardware manager and see what it lists as a video adapter - not monitor.
it sounds as if you don't have the right video card driver loaded, that
would be what enables you to change the colour and resolution.

: I am trying to help a friend. He has a PacBell with a pnp2160
: monitor. I had to reinstall 98se and an office program. I went to
: the PacBell site and got the updated driver for the monitor, but
: when it installs it don't correct the problem and it only shows 2 or
: 16 colors. I have tried other drivers and nothing seems to help. I
: have went through the selection of PacBell and then the monitor
: model and then tried to install the drive at start up and it don't fix it.
: Any one have any ideas other than the trash box? I worked before
: the format and reinstall.
