IMO Micro$oft only hears the public when they think there is money in it
(either positive or negative). I've heard and read a lot saying that
Windows 7 is more like Vista with a big service pack. Microsoft will make a
lot more money selling it as the next version of Windows. Not only do they
have unhappy Vista users who can't wait to install the next version of
Windows that they keep hearing fixes Vista's problems, but it also distances
it from the bad reputation Vista is getting. I find it hard to believe that
Windows 7 will be as good as they are hyping it to be... didn't they hype
Vista as being more reliable than XP before they started selling it?
And yes, Longhorn was the codename for Vista during development. I can't
remember if "Windows 7" is the codename or expected name that the next
version will be sold as. I'll re-read this months' PC-Mag article to see.

Does Microsoft ever hear the "public"? I wonder if Windows 7 will be more
like XP? I remember when I moved to Win2K I was filled with wonder and when
XP came along that was dreamworld. Why didn´t MS assimilate this and just
improve a system which was a winner? And what about Longhorn... did that
transform into Vista or was it the prototype for Windows 7?
