Thanks, Robert.  I will take a look at Kelley's corners.  I have a number of 
apps like CleanUp, Easy Cleaner, AdAware and SpyBot.  I also use Norton's 
optimizer and Windows defrag..  Also have Norton System Works with one 
button checkup.
Right now my taskbar is staying in place and everything seems to be running 
o.k. I did disable a number of things running in the background and 
unchecked some start up items. (things that were recommended by PCPitStop) 
That may have helped.
