Oh, I bet you're so right!  I'll check that when I get back to work, because
I do remember the gray bar was there but the list had totally disappeared,
so this is probably the solution I bet (resized).  It just never occurred to
me and I had so many interruptions that day I probably clicked and dragged
something and made a mess of things. Thanks so much ~Glo

You get it by checking the little box next to CONTACTS.  That works on my
machine.  Do you have the grey bar with the word Contacts and a picklist
down arrow visible at the bottom of the column.  If so the contacts list has
been resized.  Wiggle your cursor around the bar to get the double pointed
arrow, then click and hold and drag up to make it visible.
