-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Lexmark Z22 printer question...

dj,
You could try putting an ink cartridge in, but my Lexmark will only work
with both cartridges, black and colour. On the other hand, it could be an
outdated driver. I suggest you go to the Lexmark website and download a new
driver for that printer model. Hope this help!

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Lexmark Z22 printer question...

Has anyone ever used one of those cheapie Lexmark Z22 (or Z series) =
printers? I was given one a couple of years ago that was out of black =
ink and very low on color. I hooked it up to a computer and it printed =
fine, but has been sitting ever since and the color is now dried out =
totally. Anyway, I hooked it up to a computer that I'm about to give to =
my stepson and the Lexmark software doesn't recognize it's attached at =
all and reports both printer cartridges as full. Since there is =
currently no ink at all in it, I'm wondering if I'm getting this message =
just because there is no ink, especially since it printed fine last time =
I hooked it up when it had ink. I hooked it up both by USB and by =
parallel cable and I get the same message that the software cannot =
communicate with the printer. The printer pulls paper through and is =
acting fine and indicates no problems. BUT, I'd HATE to have someone go =
spend money on ink just to find that the printer won't work.=20

So, my question is, does being totally out of ink cause this printer to =
give the non-communication error?

dj
