-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Is 98 better than XP?

I can offer no scientific proof but I can answer what I know from personal
experience.

Windows XP does take up a lot of disk space. I wouldn't even attempt an
install without a 20 gig or better HD.

How long can you leave it on without problems. I've tested it up to three
weeks, just to see and it worked flawlessly.

The newer computer equipment should work with XP flawlessly. The older
equipment you are left at the mercy of either XP including a basic driver,
the manufacturer including a driver for it, or a hacker who makes a driver.

About the only thing I don't like about XP is that it tries to hid the OS
from the user. I like being able to tweak an OS to my liking. And XP can
sometimes make that hard. 98 was a lot easier.

Overall I like XP over 98 for stability. No more BSODs (or in my case
YSOD).

Hey,

I had an argument today with one of my business partners about wether Win XP
is a better OS than 98. I said XP was better, because that is my own
experience as well as what I perceive to be the consensus from other users.
My friend said 98 was better for sound and multimedia because:

You get more and better drivers for it
It's less likely to crash when playing multimedia
XP isnt as compatible with many drivers as 98
XP is heavier on the system and is therefore more likely to crash

Anyone have some "scientific" explanations of why XP would be better than
98, or vice versa?

thanks,
glenn
