My point was why bother to spend money on research like this?  Money for
and time spent on research could be better placed than researching what
most people already know.  Misspelled words are easily interpretable.
The fact that someone not only did this research, but that someone
okayed them to do it speaks volumes about what is wrong with the
research industry as a whole.  Wasting time on something like that
versus an actual viable contribution to the betterment of society, I
believe speaks to incompetence.  Imagination has nothing to do with it.

incompetence? How bout just plain having FUN? Of course spelling is
important in certain places..and you need to know when and where. But
