That is Micro$ofts latest invention to frustrate new users. It is
called User Account Control or UAC. Sometimes it is called other things
but I can not put those here without a lot of $%^& characters.
If you are the only user and you did not set up a separate account to
use then you are indeed an administrator. However, that does not stop
the UAC from prompting for approvals when performing certain tasks.
Generally, a UAC dialog box contains two options: OK or Cancel or
Continue or Cancel or Approve or Cancel or similar pairs of options.
Sometimes a second dialog box will open with another request for approval.
*If* the action that prompted UAC to pop up was started by or is totally
recognized and trusted by you, then OK, Continue or Approve is the
correct response.
UAC is a very good tool but it could use some improvement. It is
intended to catch malware of different types trying to launch various
activities on your computer that could be harmful to your computer or to
the network and internet if connected.
UAC can be disabled. At first I thought I would disable it but I
changed my mind for now.
