-=PCTechTalk=- Re: IE shut down

Hi
you have not mentioned which operating system you have on your computer.
Follow these steps if you have windows xp
i feel it is a browser issue and the following resolution will resolve
the problem.
1) Launch Internet Explorer and select Tools >Internet Options
>Advanced >Restore Defaults. Then close and reopen internet explorer.
If this doesnot resolve the issue follow the steps mentioned below
2) Search your hard drive for the "ie.inf" file (Usually in
windows\inf\ or winnt\inf) When you have found it right click it and
select install. Then reboot. [Running this from command line does the
same "rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\Inf\ie.inf"]
3) If it is not still working, Click Start >Run >type regedit {enter}
Navigate to the following key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \
Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \
{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383} In the right hand pane find the
value "IsInstalled" right click it, select modify, then change it to 0
(that's a Zero!).
You can now download and reinstall Internet Explorer

also please run the spysweeper to check if you have any spywares in
your computer.
Also, may need to clear your HOSTS file and/or rename it oldhosts....
http://accs-net.com/hosts/faq.html#19
Clear your browser's cache and history files AND check WindowsUpdate.
Within IE - tools - internet options - general - temporary internet
files - settings - VIEW OBJECTS and see if anything is listed as
unknown or damaged; if so, remove and close IE/reboot to test the
change.
Try resetting all the IE settings to the default.
See if your Privacy or security settings need further adjustment, or
try pasting the problem link into IE using Privacy, edit and allow
after pasting the link there. Close IE for changes to take and try
again.
Download the most current version of Java from Sun.
Goodluck,
Ashwin.
