Hi Larry,
    For years, Keyboard Cowboy has maintained a list similar to what you're 
describing, but I believe it includes all software rather than focusing 
specifically on freeware.  So, if this is truly a dream of yours, consider 
yourself annointed to the task of making it happen.  If you put together a 
list of categories, I'll help fill them up some of my favorites.
