Yvonne,
It still wasn't d**b, it was only a lapse of concentration. That's more
likely to happen to folks who are BUSY, not d**b. :O)
Now, having seen the error message (it's the same one I expected to
see), there are a couple of things you should do.
First, reboot your computer, get past that ISDN error and then delete
everything in your TEMP folder. In most Win98 systems, it's located at
C:\Windows\Temp. If you get an error message stating that a particular file
is in use, the process will stop after you click on the OK button (the only
button in the error message). You'll then have to go into the folder and
select all of the remaining files again. The easiest way to select all of
the files is to left click on one of the files and then press CTRL+A (hold
down CTRL & press the A key). Once they're all selected, hold down the CTRL
key and then click on the file that caused the error. That will UNselect
that one file and allow you to delete the rest of them. If you get another
of those same error messages, you'll need to repeat the process while
unselecting both files, etc.. When there's nothing left in the folder other
than files that refuse to be deleted, empty the Recycle Bin. This will
eliminate a good number of odd error messages that we're asked about here at
PCTT so Reboot again and see if the error still comes up. If it's still
there, go onto the next paragraph of this reply.
Secondly, clear out your Temporary Internet Files folder. Go to
Start/Settings/Control Panel. Double click on the Internet Options icon.
On the General tab (the one that should already be showing), click on the
button in the Temporary Internet Files section called "Delete Files".
Reboot again to see if it's gone.
Next, click on Start/Run and type in the word MSCONFIG and press the
Enter key. The Microsoft Configuration utility will open. Click on the
Startup tab (the last one) and scroll through the items listed there. This
is a master list of all of the programs that are set to automatically run
every time you start up the computer. If you see any without a check next
to them, they have been turned off and will NOT start up with Windows.
You're specifically looking for anything that even remotely resembles ISDN.
If you find anything like that, let us know its exact name AND its path
(which is shown to the right of the program's name) and we'll let you know
if that could be doing it. We'll be right here waiting to hear if you found
something.
While you're in there, feel free to turn off anything you're
absitively/posolutely sure you don't need (examples would be RealPlayer,
FindFast or Microsoft Office). If you're unsure about an entry, ask before
unchecking it since some of them are absolutely necessary for Windows to
run(SYSTRAY, EXPLORER) and/or protect itself (such as those that allow your
AV program to run in the background). I'd also like to open up this thread
to the other members and ask them to share their favorite sites for helping
a person determine what can be turned off.
Peace,
G Man

Thank you so much G man. I feel much better, because if you think about it,
that really was d--b to put the graphic up on the internet and then remove
it before any one had a chance to see what I was talking about. lol
Did you get a chance to see the error that I get when I boot up? It looks
like it wants me to install ISDN. And I have no idea why. I am on the only
thing I can get where we live, which is dial up. That box is a mystery to
me.
