-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Historical Question

I was a member of the local OS/2 Users Group and there were actually a lot
of OS/2 applications out there at the time (e.g., Wordperfect 5.2 for OS/2,
Lotus AmiPro for OS/2, etc.):

I was one of those praying three times daily and twice on Sundays for OS/2
to be a successful operating system. I bought OS/2 Warp for $49 and liked
it but nothing was ever written for it except for an Office Suite from IBM
(if I recall correctly).

I first saw OS/2 and the first optical drive (media was a double sided laser

disc like movies used to come on) while I was in England in the late 80s.
The optical drive demo was similar to what Encarta and Google Earth combined

could do with a gazetteer, almanac and atlas. Photos with massive zoom
in/out capabilities, pop up windows with geo-political information
(population, elevation, demographics etc).

Really very fascinating.
