Watch for a message at boot up or try holding any key down while the system
boots; This will give a keyboard error and you should be given the option
to enter the BIOS.
Try F1, F2, F10, Del. The HP's are fairly simple, as I recall. There
should be something in the owner's manual or on the web. Also, look for
something like "Hit TAB to view POST". Once you can see the POST screen,
the BIOS entry key should be shown at the bottom.
You can try turning the system OFF and plugging in a PS/2 mouse. I just
suggested the USB one because you can plug that one in without shutting
down. I CANNOT use a touchpad without going nuts, so I carry a USB mouse
with my laptop, since I often forget to plug it in until I need the
mouse. Works just fine on my old IBM i1400.
