both were on when the power went out. the computer was on -the external hard drive was off, when the power came back on. now - I moved it to a totally different plug -and got it to stay on. Not sure if that made a difference - or if it just decided to boot. so - I'm trying to back it up. I have a new smaller external hard drive. I'm moving some of it to that for the time being -will keep it both places for now. That brings me to - I'm afraid to turn it off now! If I move it a little bit at a time via the other hard drive, I can plug it in to my desktop computer. That one has a DVD burner. I've never burned files to back up things before. I can do this with DVD's, right? Do I do it the same as I would burn a cd? I figure it will take forever to backup that much on cd's. easier to burn to dvd's. Thanks!
