Larry, If the attempt at registering a support file fails, it usually means that the file in question is either missing or damaged. The first approach should be to run the System File Checker utility. It will scan your system files looking for issues and replace anything it finds out of place by copying the file from your original source. Go to Start > Run and type in 'SFC /SCANNOW' (without quotes) and press Enter. Here's some info on using this utility and how to handle things when they don't go as smoothly as they should. http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html Peace, Gman "The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask" ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Southerland" <larrysoutherland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, September 07, 2008 2:48 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- HELP!!! > I've not been able to do a windows update for years.
