although we set our incoming mail to "plain text only" these attachment
icons will still appear. It depends on the incoming messages, i.e. if they
are formatted as html, despite the fact that the senders don't send any
attachment files.

Johnny, thanks for that explanation, makes perfect sense.  So if we set our
incoming mail to "plain text only" these attachment icons will
disappear--but then we wouldn't be able to receive a lot of HTML stuff
either!  It's a trade-off, which I don't mind, I just didn't understand why
those attachments were there.  Now all is well, Lynn and I are happy once
again, right Lynn? :o)
