Long time, my friend. It's good to see ya. :O)
It's my understanding that those boxes indicate a character that's not
recognized by the operating system. Mu guess is that the preview just shows
a basic sample image of the characters inside the font without actually
pulling the characters from inside the font file. When she's actually
attempting to use it, it's trying to pull the characters rather than the
preview. Of course, the characters can't be shown properly because the
system doesn't have the support for the language used to create the font.
Just understand that this is nothing more than my semi-educated guess at
what's going on. I can't think of any other reason it would happen, but
that doesn't mean I'm right by any means. :O)
