Thanks for all the thought you've given this. I really appreciate it.
I bought the computer 3 years ago, and did not get an extended warranty.
And as for getting the serial number, I'm sure I would never be able to read
it, even if I were able to open the computer, and know what a drive 
looks like,
so I get the info!

I really need an in-city guru!
