Sure,

If it's connected to your computer at the time you download, you should be
able to download directly to the external drive. Doesn't your download box
ask you where to put it and give you a browse option?

I have an External Hard Drive, and I have an embroidery machine.  I
collect designs from the internet and store them in files on my hard
drive.  Then once a month, I run the external.  Is there a way to just
copy my design files to the external, and not my whole system?  Thanks
for any help...
