Lil,
    If they sell you 1,000,000,000 bytes as a GB, you're only getting 
1,000,000,000 bytes when it should be 1,073,741,824 bytes (1GB = 
1,073,741,824 bytes, but not to the drive makers).  So, you're not getting 
all of the bytes you're probably expecting and are, therefore, the one 
losing the missing 73,741,824 MB.  Multiply that times the actual advertised 
number of GB the drive is supposed to hold and you're missing a LOT of those 
bytes.  It's been like that almost from the start, so we all just deal with 
the discrepancy.
