-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Error on converting DVD

Faustus,

further my below message, I follow your guidance to uninstall Wincopy DVD
and then install it again. The result are the same. The problem maybe on the
subpictures (subtitles).

Thanks.

Johnny

Faustus,

Thanks for the info. I forgot to tell that other proggies are unable to
convert the DVD into VCD. WinCopyDVD work great for the other DVD titles,
although it's only for a few minutes..
So, the point is not on the crack or not, but more on the DVD titles
(Japanese samurai movies from 1950s up to 1960s) that seem have a
non-standard structures. I like WinCopyDVD and consider to buy it. As to the
legal issue, it's all my responsibility. I just make one copy for my
brother. So, it's not for business purpose.

Thanks.

Johnny

Hi, Johnny, nice to have you here. Glad you're enjoying our group.

Try uninstalling and putting a fresh install into a new folder. The
FAQ page [ http://www.wincopydvd.com/faq.htm ] states that this error
occurs when the program executable has been cracked.

Now, I'm not accusing you of anything, because...

a. The faq states that this error occurs on PLAYING the dvd
..and...
b. ANY corruption to an executable file can [and often will] be
interpreted by the makers as an attempt to crack the program

So, try a fresh install of the trial version, or consider purchasing
the full version, if you like this program.

There are other programs you can use, btw. Check out the bottom few
links on this excellent page of tutorials.

I've had good results in the past with TMPGEnc.

P.S. Regarding this thread: I'm not going to get into any discussions
with anyone on the legal issues of converting DVDs to VCDs. I take
the stance that a person is always allowed to make one copy of
something, for backup purposes. After that, what they do with it is
up to them.
