-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Eliminating junk mail (aka SPAM!)

I to dispise Junk mail.=20=20
I could never get the POP or the other mail servives to work for me, so I h=
ave about a dozen differant web based email accounts.=20=20
I have the junk mail filter set to high on all of them, and I'm some what s=
urprized by what gets through the filter. I tried sting the rules, but with=
them changing there address or subject line every email or 2 I didn't find=
that much good. I also tried using the Block mail feature, same results.=
=20
But what I am suprized by mis what the differant accounts ( not sure thats =
the right term) consider junk.

Webtv is the worst. They claim the junk mail filter works but I never foun=
d a drop in the spam I get in those accounts.
Have 4 there only 2 get spam, I used to use those 2 for emails and some gro=
ups.

I have another 4 accounts with MSN and hotmail. Hot mail is bad. it looks=
like everything get through but it is sent to ma junk mmail folder. MSN i=
s about 50/50. I just send what I consider junk to the junk folder.

Netzero free account is another bad one. Most of the junk is from there p=
artners. You can send it to the junk folder but it will not let you report =
it. Part of the agreement when you sign up for the free account.

The Adelphia.net account almost no spam. I can count on 1 hand how many I =
get in a month. The same with Yahoo, believe it or not.

My 3 newest accounts,EXCITE,OPERA AND MAILFREEWAY are less than a month o=
ld and have had no spam yet.

What I'm trying to say after all this is that if you send emails your going=
to get spam. If I don't know the person or the company name I just deep s=
ix it, and try not to get too upset by it.

Steve
