I would need help in finding them and installing them...lol...for him. any help will be appreciated.... ----- Original Message ----- From: GMan To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 1:27 Patricia Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: EMachine question Pat, Your friend may already have the basic drivers on either that same recovery disk or on a second one that came with the computer. Jo Ann is right in that he will need the most recently released versions of these to optimize the system, but the basic ones will at least get him up and running so he can get online to get them himself (although he may still need help in learning how to find & install them). The most important of these drivers (at least for his internet connection and USB device access) are the Ethernet and chipset drivers. Since he has a high speed connection, the Ethernet driver will activate his connection to the external modem or network while the chipset drivers turn on all sorts of features on his mainboard (the USB ports, for example). Most times, these drivers are not individually labeled on a recovery disk set, so that info is not going to tell him much. My description is only meant to help you understand better why they are needed. Peace, GMan The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask. ----- Original Message ----- From: "(´¸.·*´¯`*»- ->Patricia" <rhekay@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 7:37 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: EMachine question > thanks > I will have to get his info and look for the drivers since he has no > connection. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Jo Ann Weaver > To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 7:33 Patricia > Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: EMachine question > > When you format, you lose all your drivers.
