When you format, you lose all your drivers. If Windows doesn't
have the replacement drivers, then he needs to download them from
the manufacture's site. Has he tried other USB devices and do
they work? If so then it's probaly driver problems. He should
also try to download the ethernet drivers. That might be the
problem with it too.
