As far as I know, there is no universal type DVD. -R can be read by most
players, that's what I use.

it was a dvd+r and my Toshiba DVD recorder only accepts dvd-r. I am
trying to burn one now and will let you know what happens. But I do
have one other question, is there a 'universal' dvd format that ANY
machine can read? For example, Blockbuster only uses one format of
dvd so that all can watch. what format do I get for that? thanks much!
