-=PCTechTalk=- Re: DVD Recorder.

Hi Rose / Rick . I have a CD burner in the computer, plus I bought an
external LG -Portable CD-RW / DVD-ROM Drive . I could not get the CD
Burner in the Computer working that is why I bought the portable one , I
took the computer to a Tech and he got them both working. I only use them
for backing up my computer files and for copying one CD to another. I was
told by someone else that with the DVD Recorder I could copy 4-5 3 hour
tapes to a DVD CD. Looks like it will be many years before I can do that .
:-((( . Guess I will stick with the VRC . Lionel.

Rose,
Are you talking about a DVD burner in your computer? If so, Percy is
looking for a stand alone machine as I read it.

Also, if this is relevant, I bought my first VHS recorder in 1983, and i
am still using the tapes that I bought with it. I have probably 70 or 80
VHS tape cassettes, and only one has failed me. I think with reasonable
care they will last many more years. They need to be kept dry,
moderately cool and most definitely away from loud speakers. I have
seen tapes kept on the top of free standing speakers, and the magnets in
them are strong enough to cause damage to the tapes recording..

DVD recording discs are expensive here in NZ, but this URL is worth a
look. I have imported over 30 disks from there at *FAR* less than the
cost here. <www.netsoftmedia.com>.

Cheers
