HB,
Rather than try to install a newer driver, your best bet is to just
remove the one it's using and force Windows into reinstalling it from
scratch (which will replace any corrupted files with fresh ones).
Open up Device Manager and locate your keyboard. you'll see a heading
for keyboards with a plus sign before it. Click on that plus sign to expose
the actual driver listing. Click directly on the listing and then click on
the Remove button. A warning will come up which you'll have to confirm.
Next, do the same thing for the Mouse listing. Once this second one is
confirmed, you may find that you no longer have use of either keyboard or
mouse and will have to reboot using either the reset button on the front of
your computer case (not all models have this) or the power switch also on
the front of the case (you may have to hold the power button in for 4
seconds before it will turn off the system). A reset button will
automatically reboot the system while the power switch method will shut it
down completely. If you end up using the power switch, wait a few seconds
and then turn the system back on. While Windows is booting up, it will
redetect the two devices and load the appropriate drivers for them. All
should once again be right with the world. :O)
Peace,
GMan
