At the risk of sounding like a grouch myself, I just went through the last
1600 or so messages dating back to June 2007 in the group and found three
problems from you.
One was viewing pictures or slideshow on a DVD from your B-I-L. I responded
but never saw a followup from you.
The second one was a dial tone problem with your modem. You got some
responses from me and one or two others and apparently something fixed the
problem because I saw no more followup on it.
The current problem is the third one. My Mom used to use Juno for her
email. I had to try and fix problems for her from time to time. I never
encountered this problem. Juno is a very proprietary software product.
Nothing else works the way it does. Only people that use it know anything
that could be of help to you.
I assume you have already tried the obvious (Juno tech Support). If they
were unable to help, it is doubtful anyone here can either.
I will suggest that you look at the varuious configuration and security
settings in your firewall, Juno and your browsers. Other than that, I can't
help.
Perhaps the reason nobody has been able to solve your problems is because
folks that provide answers are no longer familiar enough with the old
technology you are using to provide more than helpful tips to guide you to
further research for a solution. And those that can help or will be willing
to help will become more scarce every day.
If you were using a recent OS, a broadband ISP and current browser and email
programs you could get a lot more useful advice to solve your problems.
You buy a new car when it is no longer possible or economically feasable to
keep it safe and keep it running. Every day you will continue to find
little things not working the way they used to or not working at all.
Especially on the internet where technology is developing so quickly and it
demands more resources to get its full benefit.
Good luck with Windows 98SE. I wish I had been able to stick with DOS.
Don
