You have the choice of backing up your stuff to an external or backing it up 
dorectly to your new system over the network.  Regardless of which option 
you choose, you'll want to hold off on the full backup until the new system 
is there.  Otherwise, you'll be leaving behind anything that's added between 
now and then (like newer email, etc.).
