-=PCTechTalk=- Re: CD ROM Drive

I've cleaned a lot of DVDs with soap and water when the DVD has
scratches. Works beautifully.

I Googled optical drive cleaners and found a site advertising
the following:
Belkin 3.5" Diskette/CD/DVD Drive Cleaning Kit.
Does that sound like what I want? I bookmarked the site so I
can go back
and order it if I don't find what I need in our travels. It was
about $7.95
plus s&h.
I also found information about cleaning the CD and I recall this
being
discussed here before but have forgotten what the consensus of
opinion was.
I have been using a soft, lint free cloth, dipped in 70%
isopropyl alcohol
and wiped the disk from the center out. In my search I saw
someone using
mild soap and water and a lint free cloth and always wiping from
the center
out and not going around in a circle.
Your opinions please!!
Sandi
P.S. Son does not have XP installed yet on his MAC so I have to
go to plan
B (have not determined what that is yet!)
P.S.S. Just an off topic note. Our trip involves picking up a
new car
(2008 Camry) and passing our old one to our next college bound
grandson.
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!
