Yes, labels could come off. I've used labels in the past, but haven't 
done so for quite awhile. CD/DVDs spin at high speeds in your drive. 
And, anything that offsets the equal distribution of weight across the 
disc probably isn't good. People use labels, and they make the label 
printers, so it can't be that often to mess up. Though, I'd hate to see 
the result of a label coming off in the drive.

If you want to look at other solutions, Epson makes printers that 
actually print onto the CD or DVD itself. You need to get blanks that 
have the special surface for the inkjet printing, but they're priced the 
same as regular blanks. And, if all you're concerned with is printing to 
the disc (as opposed to using the printer for anything else) you can get 
their older models. The R200 or R220 can be purchased for under $100. 
Epson sells the R220 for $99 on their website, but I've seen it for as 
low as $69 with third-party merchants through Amazon. And, these print 
pretty nice. Not bad at all.

So... just some other options to look into.
