Jan,

Trillian is another Instant Messenger program that allows you to access
several different types of IM services, such as ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, AIM,
etc., as Hal mentioned, all thru this one program. It has nothing to do
with any email program, so I am not quite sure why you think that OE is part
of the problem?? Is it giving you any errors saying that?

Also, you can access only, say, Yahoo Messenger, thru Trillian if you don't
use any of the other IM programs.

It would be a way for you to check and see if Messenger works thru your
computer.

Another suggestion is to uninstall it, and install a previous version? Then
maybe update to the current version if you want?

|
| I use Express because my seniors look forward to receiving email with
| graphics, animation & music. This seems to encourage their desire to
learn
| & participate. So I am an Outlook Express person forever.
|
| Hal, why would Yahoo Messenger work for many months with Express & now
| refuse? I can't imagine there being a compatibility issue here.
|
| It would be nice if there was some way to contact tech support for Yahoo
| Messenger, but as far as I know there is no way to reach a real person.

| Have you considered using a different client to access Yahoo's messenger
| service? Personally I use trillian http://ceruleanstudios.com, you can
| use to connect to IRC, Yahoo, MS Messenger AIM and ICQ at the same time.

| The window panel with the list of names pops up immediately. I can even
| see who is online but when I click on the name of the person that is on
| line nothing happens. Usually a message box appears allowing for a
| message to be typed. But this no longer happens. There is no
| response...I can neither reply or initiate any correspondence...no error
| messages appear. So in other words, nothing happens after the window
| with the list of names pops up.
|
| Please keep working on this issue as I use this messenger to keep tabs
| on several seniors.
|
| Thanks for your efforts,
| Jan

| When you say its not working... are you getting errors? or is the Yahoo
| Messenger window/panel just not popping up? What exactly isn't working?

| I am using Windows 98 second edition, I have no firewall, and I
| don't
| know
| what a router is. It has been working for eons, but two weeks or so
| ago it
| just stopped doing anything. I haven't put anything new in this
| computer
| either. It was working fine for a very long time & then suddenly
| without
| warning it stopped.
