-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Blocked Senders List

Hi Glo,

Just my two cents worth of past experience... Mailwasher is great and works,
but if you are getting that amount of junk mail you will spend a lot of time
on Mailwasher just filtering. Unfortunately spammers don´t use the same
addy twice... or the same subject... My advice is to change your email addy
(I know... its a bore...) and be very protective of the new one. Never ever
enter it on website logins, and if it is for your private mail, don´t use it
on Yahoo groups either. Get another for the groups. Its easy to change
addies in Yahoo.

For website logins I use a free one that has webmail, and this addy doesn´t
ever enter my OE. If I am expecting something I go to webmail and read it
there. If it generates spam mail... I let the website deal with it <BG>

And last, ask your family and friends to please not give out your email...
ever, under pain of being cut out of your willl... many people find funny
little websites with funny little games and... "send this to your friends...
enter your friend´s email..." From then on you are hooked and the spam
begins. Ask your friends to send you the link to the page, this way you
have the choice of going to it or not instead of having sometimes huge
files, plonk on your OE.

Gosh, I´ve talked too much for this early in the morning... only had one cup
of coffee... But, touch wood, haven´t had any junk mail in over one year...
Have a good day, all, and safe computing!

Lil

thanks mike, i know how to use message rules and filters, but how about
mailwasher, is that difficult to use? sounds like that might be the
solution to my junk mail problem---if i get 60 emails, 30 or more w/b ads,
unwanted websites, etc. i just don't want to run the risk of not getting
mail from friends and certain ezines, etc. i will also check out your
shamelessly self-promoted wesite ;o) ~Glo
