GMan !

First THE BAD NEWS
I slavishly followed your instructions, regretably the Program area
icons have not returned to normal.

second THE GOOD NEWS
1. Looking thru the Toshiba Manual's instructions (as I have many times
before; on using Recovery disks) it categorically states that they will
erase all the contents of the computer and then restore the orginal
factory specs.

2. I finally decided to call Toshiba, which involved a long and expensive
call to Australia (our nearest support) They confirmed Item 1 above,
advised they wd NOT be able to reinstall Drag'n Drop CD separately, and
finally, after the level of discussion had increased a few decibels,
gave the throwaway line that I should put in the Recovery Disk and see
what happened.

3. I did so in trepidation, only to find TWO options:- Full Recovery OR
Reinstall individual Apps and drivers !!!! So I now have Drag'n Drop back!

WHAT'S NEXT?

well, I still want to proceed with a complete reinstall as there are
other problems I have been having and it would be great to have a clean
start. I am therefore going to download your instructions on Folders to
Save and take it gently

Meanwhile a very big thank you for your meticulous perseverance and
intrepid support
